Getting Around St. Petersburg

Getting around in St. Petersburg, FL is easy if you don't have access to a rental car. Depending on where you are staying and how far you are going, most destinations can be reached on foot. However, there are other options if you don't like the idea of walking.

Trolley
The Downtown Looper Trolley is one of the best modes of transportation for tourists. It travels daily through Downtown and the Grand Central District and makes stops at all of the museums and other popular tourist destinations in St. Petersburg. It's the best option for tourists who want to see it all on their vacation.

Bus
The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority is another great traveling option. If you need to go further away than the trolley can take you within St. Petersburg, the PSTA is your best bet. Tickets for the PSTA can be purchased conveniently online if you'd like to schedule your bus trip in advance. The PSTA also has a special beach trolley service going from St. Petersburg all the way to Clearwater.

Air
Visitors to St. Petersburg, Fl who would like to travel to surrounding cities can board a plane at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. This airport uses smaller planes seasonally to take visitors to nearby locations.

Taxi
There is no shortage of taxi services operating in the St. Petersburg area. Most of the taxi drivers are also very knowledgeable about St. Petersburg and will be more than happy to suggest good restaurants and other fun things for you to do during your stay.

If you have a rental car, parking usually isn't a problem. There are public lots, private lots and parking garages throughout St. Petersburg for tourists to use. An added bonus to visitors using rental cars is that parking meters are not read on the weekends.
